Finalists complete their work on projects

On February 3, 2022, the finalists of the Open International Competition for development of an architectural concept of Galiasgar Kamal Tatarian State Academy Theater have completed their work on bids.

Over the past 4 months 8 teams of finalists  have been working on a project for a new building of the Theater at the intersection of Khadi Taktash and Nursultan Nazarbayev streets, located on the shore of Lake Kaban. The architects tried to take into account all the points that correspond to the functional task: the number of rooms needed to accommodate the theater troupe, stages, rehearsal rooms and the orchestra pit, additional training and performance rooms, as well as the requirements for modern comfort. In addition, the contestants will be able to adapt the new building to the urban landscape and the convenient location of the entrance to the theater, the direction of pedestrian traffic from public transport stops. The finalists also took into account the appearance of the new building and much more.

On February 15, 2022, a meeting of the Expert Council will be held, which will include state and theater figures. The coordinators of the Expert Council of the competition are Natalya Fishman-Bekmambetova, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Ilfir Yakupov, Director of the Tatar State Academic Theater named after G.Kamala.

On February 16, the Jury, chaired by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, will select three best projects and determine one winner. The final of the open competition can be watched online. The name of the winner will be announced at a press conference on February 17, 2022.
